about

A thank-you card to the band's chanteuse.

lyrics

How many words? How many rhymes? How many melodies? How many
times we’ve staged a Song Parade, all these years we have played together?

Some of them blue. Some of them jasmine-hued. Colors of rustling leaves. How many
shades of song, like skeins of yarn, we have spun, all these years together?

Now here you are fronting up a real live band. Real live drummer and the guitar man!
I’m just sitting on my keyboards stool: drinking it all in.

I wrote a few songs. I just want to say. Thank you for singing them. The wonderful
way you sing, your style and grace, the way you weave these strands of song together.

This song for you: it’s overdue. I hope these wistful words will do.
For all your heart and all your art: this song for you.
[instrumental solo]
